It doesn’t take as long as you might think for Tavener to suit up and do makeup as a member of Blue Man Group, notwithstanding the unique look of the performers.

The basic get-up is dark clothing, latex bald caps and blue paint over the caps and elsewhere. “Definitely paint,” said Tavener, who is with the national tour of Blue Man Group that will be coming to The Hanover Theatre for the Performing Arts for five performances beginning tomorrow night.

Twenty minutes and the dressing and makeup can be pretty much done. However, “It’s not something we rush,” Tavener said. Before each show, the three Blue Man Group performers who will be on stage along with a three- or four-member band “connect with each other for about an hour. We’ve all got to get everyone on the same page.”
