Young Rutland actor sets his mind to perfecting ‘Seussical' role

April 10, 2012

By Richard Duckett TELEGRAM & GAZETTE STAFF

In the world of Dr. Seuss, good “thinks” can really happen.

“Oh, The Thinks You Can Think!” as the good doctor (aka writer Theodor Seuss Geisel) titled one of his books. That line is also the title of the opening song in the musical “Seussical,” where young Jojo — best friend of Horton the Elephant — has thinks all the time. You think — or imagine — something, and it happens. But Jojo does get into a spot of trouble with his thoughts before the people of Whoville honor him as “Thinker Non-Stop.”

Brian T. Tivnan, who is directing the Assumption College production of “Seussical” that will be performed at The Hanover Theatre for the Performing Arts on Saturday and Sunday (with a morning matinee for schoolchildren on Friday) , thinks he has a great cast for the show. The 60-plus performers taking the stage include Assumption students as well as 20 children from throughout Worcester County.
