Glen Campbell presents a lovely swan song

January 12, 2012

Music Review by Craig S. Semon TELEGRAM & GAZETTE STAFF

While his mind might not be 100 percent these days (whose is?), Glen Campbell's unmistakable voice and legendary guitar prowess certainly were last night at the Hanover Theatre for the Performing Arts.

With his mind still lucid, his guitar playing still fluid and his supple voice still nuanced, Campbell (who in June announced he has been diagnosed with early stage Alzheimer's disease) played a crowd-pleasing, 80-minute, 21-song set (including a two-song encore). While the concert was not quite a return to “The Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour” (largely because of knowledge of his medical condition, which, by the way, the artist is dealing with it with incredible strength, grace and dignity), this wasn't any pity party either.
