Miss Mass pageant features 22 contestants, online voting

June 25, 2010

The 71st annual Miss Massachusetts Scholarship Pageant takes place at 7 tonight and tomorrow night at the Hanover Theatre for the Performing Arts in Worcester. This is the second year that the pageant is being held in Worcester, having previously been located in Fall River.

The two-night pageant features Miss Massachusetts 2009 Amanda Kelly of Braintree, and 22 competitors.

They will vie for scholarship money and the opportunity to represent Massachusetts at the 90th Anniversary Miss America Pageant in January 2011. This year, the Miss America telecast returns to network television and will be telecast on the ABC Network.

Also new this year is online voting to select the 11th finalist for Saturday's show. For $1 per vote, fans may visit the Miss Massachusetts website and cast their vote for the contestant they would like to see as the 11th finalist. For more details, visit www.missmass.org and click on the online voting link.
