By Stuart Munro TELEGRAM & GAZETTE REVIEWER

Shortly after he started his set at The Hanover Theatre Tuesday night, Vince Gill remarked that early on in his career, when he was allotted the opening act’s usual 20 or 30 minutes of playing time, he made a promise to himself. If he ever got to be a headliner, he would play for a lot longer than that. As usual, he kept his promise Tuesday, playing for the better part of three hours for a crowd that seemed to appreciate every minute of it.

Live at the Hanover, Guster performs trademark sound

April 21, 2010
By Jim Gangi, Le Provocateur Arts & Entertainment

Guster is a band that I associate very closely with my time here at Assumption College. I was introduced to the band my freshmen year, and have been a devoted fan ever since. That is why I could think of no better place to see Guster perform than right here in Worcester at The Hanover Theatre. Since the mid-90's, Guster has been a staple of the musical culture of the Northeast, especially Massachusetts. Formed in Boston, the band attracts a wide range of listeners, but is a particular favorite of college students. Some might recall Guster's performance right here as Assumption's spring concert a few years ago.

‘Riverdance’ casts a torrent of enchantment

April 11, 2010
By Richard Duckett TELEGRAM & GAZETTE REVIEWER

If this really is the farewell tour of “Riverdance,” the show is leaving these parts with its head held high, back straight, and legs and dance shoes blazing.

The current U.S. tour came to The Hanover Theatre for the Performing Arts for the first of five performances Friday night, and excited an audience of 2,100 who were brought, appropriately enough, to their feet. The core of the show is the Irish step-dancing, with that unique posture of standing tall and straight while legs and feet do the talking. The approximately 25-member dancing troupe Friday were exciting to watch and crisp and clean in their movements.

‘Sleeping Beauty’ keeps Hanover crowd wide awake

April 8, 2010
By Richard Duckett TELEGRAM & GAZETTE STAFF

The Moscow Festival Ballet Performance of “Sleeping Beauty” at The Hanover Theatre for the Performing Arts Tuesday night showed a lot of get-up-and-go character.

There was no snoozing or resting on any laurels, past or present. The dancing was crisp, expressive and got all the angles right.

It can’t be easy for a company on tour in a foreign county to come into a city or town, put up the set, get out all the costumes, perform a technically demanding ballet for one night, then pack up and get back on the road in the morning. How is anyone associated with this tour of “Sleeping Beauty” supposed to get a good night’s sleep?

"Chorus Line" still kicking, less spry

WORCESTER — Can it be that “A Chorus Line” is getting a bit stale around the edges? Not that there was anything wrong with Hanover Theatre's staging of Michael Bennett's love letter to the no-pain-no-gain world of the dancer. Not by any means. It's still solid entertainment, glistening with Baayork Lee's synchronized choreography and Patrick Vaccariello's and John O'Neil's pulsating handling of Marvin Hamlisch and Edward Kleban's catchy music and lyrics.
